League Rules

Overview:
  • When: Saturday nights

  • Game 1: 5:30 PM - 6:30 PM (Kick-off at 5:40 PM sharp)

  • Game II: 6:30 PM - 7:30 PM (Kick-off at 6:40 PM sharp)

  • Schedule change requests must be submitted to the host at least one week prior to the start of the designated closest game. Any requests made after this deadline will be denied and may result in a loss of points.

  • Where: Huntington Beach Sports Complex (Field Tuft E)

  • Players must arrive 15 minutes before kick-off to register jersey numbers with the referee

  • The referee will start the game on schedule. Each team must have at least five players on the field to play. If a team fails to meet this requirement, the game will automatically be forfeited and result in lost for your team.

  • Only registered players allowed to play (violated this rule will result in -1 point and void the game result.)

  • Games played 7v7 with goalkeepers

  • Each game will be 50 minutes long, with a 5-minute rest in between.

  • Fee: $85/Player (included referee fee and field fee)​​

  • Minus Point Rule (-1 point) off the total point for failing to execute 3 rules listed below:

  1. Goal set-up rules:

  • Two teams are scheduled to play on the first game (5:30 PM - 6:30 PM) must bring the goals on to the field at least 5 minutes before the game start. 

  • Two teams are scheduled to play on the second game (6 PM - 7:30 PM) must bring the goals off the field, set it face into the fence where the lock located before leaving the field.

  • Failing to follow the Goal set-up rules will result in -1 point. 

   2. FIELD RULES:

  • Do NOT jump the fence to enter or exit the field (will result in a yellow card).

  • No gum.

  • No spitting inside.

  • No food or drinks on the fields.

  • No hanging on the nets and goals.

  • No cleats.

  • No parents/spectators on the field during game play/half time.

  • Failing to follow the Goal set-up rules will result in -1 point. 

  3. Balls Rules:

  • Every team must bring one play ball to the game ( required ball size 5), or borrow it from the host and return it after the game.

  • If a ball is kicked into the parking lot someone from the team that kicked it out must retrieve the ball and return it to the staff member. If the ball is not returned by the end of the game that team will be charged $35. That fee must be paid prior to the start of the next game or that team will not be allowed to play.

  • Failing to follow the Goal set-up rules will result in -1 point. 

   4.Jersey:

  • Every team must report Jersey Color to the host and other team in the chat group one day before the gam day.

  • Goalie must wear different color jersey and wear glove.

   5. ​Schedule rules:

  • ​Change schedule request must be submit to the host at least one week before the before the closed game start

IMPORTANT - Playing Rules:

  • Every dead ball is an indirect kick (Exception: Penalty Kicks & Free Kick).

  • Kick-offs to start the game, and after a goal, can be passed backward. Kick-offs must wait for the Ref's whistle to be blown.

  • Penalty kicks are from the marker inside the goalie box.

  • Kicking team has 5 seconds to make a dead ball live.

  • Opponents must give 6 yards from a dead ball.

  • If the ball goes out on the sideline, it is an indirect kick from the spot it went out on the sideline and the ball must not rolling.

  • If the ball goes out on the end line, it is either a corner or a kick from the goalie.

  • The goalie can bring the ball into his/her box and pick it up.

  • If the goalie picks up a pass back from their own team it is an indirect kick from where the pass occurred.

  • Goalie can drop-kick, sidewinder, or punt the ball.

  • Goalie cannot throw the ball directly into the opposing goal.

  • No sliding or slide tackling; cannot play the ball from the ground (Exception: 

  • No shoulder checking: all players must make contact with the ball first, before any body contact is made.

  • If it is a goal scoring opportunity and you get fouled in the box, it is a PK on the line inside in the box (Direct Kick).

  • If you receive a yellow, you must sit out for the rest of the game, and your team must play down for (2) minutes. If the opposing team scores before the 2 minutes is up your teammate can come back in to play.​

    • If the goalkeeper receives the yellow, you can have a field player sit out for the goalkeeper in their place.

  • If a player receives a red card, and that player must sit out the remainder of the game and suspense 2 games, or the entire season (violent red); your team must play down a player for the remainder of the half-game.

  • If you receive 5 yellow cards during the season you will receive 2 game suspension that must be completed the following game after receiving the fifth yellow card.

  • For every 5 fouls a team commits in a single half, one player from that team will be required to sit out and your team must play down for 2 minutes [If the opposing team scores before the 2 minutes is up your teammate can come back in to play].

    • The foul count will reset at halftime.

  • Unsportsmanlike behavior is considered a yellow card: yelling at opponents before shots/tackles, disrespectful to the ref and opponents, kicking the ball away on fouls, etc.

  • Free subbing. Play must stop for subs. Players must come off the field before the new player steps onto the field.

    • A yellow card will be issued to the player stepping onto the field for the infraction.

    • Exception: Goalkeepers must report in to the official.

  • If you have too many players on the field, it is an indirect free kick where the player stepped onto the field.

  • Forfeit is a 1-0 win and 0 point.

  • You must forfeit if you have 3 or less players for the game.

  • The Ref can wait up to 15 minutes before starting the game to wait for all teammates to arrive. After the 10 minutes, the Ref will start the clock and if players do not arrive within 5 minutes (15 minutes total) it is considered a forfeit.

  • League will play 7v7 including goal keepers; Teams may have no more than 14 players on their roster.

    • Final rosters must be submitted by week 3 of the league; only rostered players will be allowed to play in playoffs.

  • You may have up to 2 guest players per regular season game; guest players cannot be from another team within the league. Guest players cannot play in play-offs.

  • No team can win a game by more than a 6-goal max differential

  • Scoring will be based off points, head-to-head, goal differential, goals for, goals against

2 / Payment & Refund Policy

Payment Policy:

  • League Dues: Full team/individual league fees are due by the FIRST GAME of league. The team manager will be charged (card on file) for any remaining balance prior to the start of the SECOND game.

Refund Policy:

  • All refunds/cancellations must be made before the schedule is made for the season. Bolsa Soccer may deny any refund requests that are made after a season schedule has been sent to the league.

  • No refunds are made for injuries, red cards, or season drops.​

3 / Liability Release Consent and Waiver Policy

Liability Release Consent for Soccer Sport Participation at the Huntington Beach Sport Complex and Bolsa Soccer Group and Waiver MUST be signed in order to play!
